Any of the Les Paul replicas that came out of the Fuji-Gen-Gakki company in Japan were great instruments. I was in Japan in '83 and came back with two Burnys a Les Paul Standard Tobacco Sunburst and a Black Beauty Custom (with the correct diamond inlay in the headstock). Foolishly I traded them away to a music store circa 1987 for some American Charvels with locking tremolo's (also great guitars) to play the 80's hair band stuff.

May 4, 2006 - as the title says which les paul copy is the best? Im looking to buy one! Join Date: Jan 2006; Location: Texas; Age: 35; Posts: 639.

I soon migrated back to classic rock/ blues and bought 3 American Standard Stratocasters.I really missed the Les Paul for quite some time and in early 2006 I bought an Orville on Ebay that absolutely kills tone and build quality wise. Long neck tenon joint 1959 correct construction In many ways the guitar was built better than the Gibsons that were factory produced. The cost was significantly lower too. It stacks up better than any Gibson I've played (I've never had my hands on a real '59 LP otherwise I am sure that I wouldn't be saying that).

Check out this link and go to the history tab to learn more about these great guitars. Guitarman6,I believe that Burny on ebay is a late 80's or early 90's model.

You can tell by the christmas tree truss rod cover and the lightning bolt inlay on the headstock. The earlier 80's Burny les paul customs had a diamond headstock inlay like Gibson. I have one that is an '83-'85 model (it's hard to be exact) and it has the diamond inlay. It's a great guitar. I've owned a Gibson les paul so I can compare. World of warcraft not full screen.

The Burny customs are generally considered to be excellent guitars including the ones like the one on ebay.I believe the model is RLC60 and its not a high-end Burny, but not low-end either. It will likely have a poly finish and pretty good pickups. The neck on mine is closer to a 60's thinner les paul neck than a 50's neck and I think the one on ebay will be the same. The opening bid price is maybe a little high, but I haven't checked what they're going for lately.I hope this helps. I have owned and played out for many years with my Burny les Paul custom built in the mid 70's.

It's an amazing instrument. The cut, shape and feel are almost identical to my old 57 LP custom. I like the Burny more. It also has a rosewood board which makes it sound more like a standard but without getting muddy in the low end.

The neck is wide and fairly fat like a 59 neck which is perfect for all the string bending and vibrato I do.I wouldn't trade it for anything. Nitro finish, long neck joint. I just love that guitar. I'm not familiar with the one posted but it looks pretty good, guessing early 90's but check the link someone provided and I'm sure you can date it. I know that site well.I have a late 80's Super Grade(lower logo)LP that is a fantastic guitar.

Some say it is not quite on the level as the best from the 70's or 80's but it was still from what is considered the golden era.Personally I have no idea why anyone would buy new Gibson LP's anymore considering the prevelence of the 80's or so era Tokai's, Burny's, Greco, Orvilles, etc. For a fraction of the price and IMO superior.

Mine cost $700.00 three years ago and is better than any off the rack LP for 3 grand I have seen. CS, vintage or boutique I won't compare but off the rack high priced Gibsons, my Burny kills them. And I have owned a few superb early and late 60's SG's, mid 60's ES-335, and a late 60's LP. Those admittedly were a notch or so better than my Burny and have given me a reference.

Again, apologies for the resurrection, but I didn't quite muster the confidence to make a purchase the first time around. There's which is US-based and going for $625. Any opinions? It looks like it might be similar to the one telelion described.I'm also looking at 335 copies, and have found a couple - see and.Is the SA64-60 likely to be the better instrument? I can't find out much about it via Google. The headstock certainly looks nicer.Sorry if that derails the thread, but it seems like it might be approximately the right place, haha. Decent price for a very cool LP copy.

The thing with Burny's you have to watch out for is the weight, some (many) are upwards of 10lbs. I have owned probably 6-7 throughout the years and they were all nice, though most of them had thinner profile slim 60's necks.

I've also owned Orville, Orville by Gibson, Greco, Tokai, Epiphone Japan, and even Edwards, etc. They are all very similar. I don't know if I would say at this point in my life that they are as good or better than a real Gibson after having owned a Trad pro, 2010 LP Standard, old Standard from the 80's, R4, R8 and now R4 LP Custom. But, they are great LP style guitars and if you can snag for under $700 or so you are doing great!

Probably no serial number right? Not always easy dating those.but prices are on the rise for older ones, so depending on the asking price you may not lose money in the long run and possibly could make some. Th VH-1 p`ups are desirable and if it`s an MIJ it could be worth it. They do have some MIC now that come with Seymour Duncans and they look great new.all sparkly `n stuff but I have to wonder how they`ll hold up over time. There are some great Burnys out there but there are some not so good ones too.And what does want have to do with need? Click to expand.I agree with that for the MIJs.the MICs just don`t interest me. I can get used MIKs for very little and thats how much I want those.

I do however pick up every single used MIJ from that era that I come across and have been real lucky in finding some great ones. My 1978 Tokai Les Paul Reborn is outstanding even though as a collectors item it`s useless because the p`ups had been swapped for Duncans and somebody installed 3 pull up pots to give it the 70% Jimmy Page mod.things that could be put right again but it sounds so good I don`t want to mess with it.got it for $200.oo a few years ago.those days are long gone now though. I am on the hunt for a top end Yamaha or Aria Les Paul type from those days.`cause I own some mid range models but wanna go up. We`ll see how much sellers want.they now expect all gaijin to spend crazy money for them just because some do.
