Climates of TamrielOverwrites the vanilla weather systems and expands on them. You end up with more and better weather types. The weather regions have been edited to be more realistic.

Skyrim Nexus Wet And Cold

Climates of Tamriel Weather PatchTakes over where the original mod left off and further expands on the changes. It also does a better job of handling ambient light at night. This mod also adds a blurry, depth of field effect to distant objects during heavy rain. This feature will not work if you are using Dynavision. Supreme StormsHas both standalone and Climates of Tamriel versions. This mod makes both rain and snow storms more intense and severe. Rain and Snow storms are now blindingly thick, making it hard to see long distances. Fighting dragons in the middle of a blizzard can be both disorienting and terrifying (as it should be!) Supreme and Volumetric FogEnhances the way fog looks in Skyrim.

You now have a chance to experience “pea soup” fog, where it’s nearly impossible to see more than a few yards. I find this type of fog happens most often in the Morthal Swamp. Other fog types have been enhanced as well. Rainbows, Shooting Stars, and A Splash of RainAre all pretty much self explanatory. Rainbows has a chance to show a rainbow, opposite the sun, when transitioning from a rainy weather to a clear one while the sun (or moon) is at a low point in the sky.

With shooting stars you’ll have a chance to see some falling stars during clear nights. There’s a mod configuration menu if you have Skyui installed that will let you change how often shooting stars appear. There are also meteor showers that take place in game, which increases the frequency at which the stars fall. A Splash of Rain adds a very simple and subtle splashing animation to the ground during rainy weathers.Wet and ColdHelps add a level of reality to the game by forcing your NPCs to dawn cold weather gear depending on where they live and what the weather is like. If you’re in Windhelm, for example, NPCs will be wearing cloaks and hoods pretty much all the time when they’re outdoors. In Falkreath they may only wear their weather gear when it’s raining. It also adds cold weather effects to the game; like visible breath, and a layer of frosty on both NPCs, the character, and various animals. Has options to make snow get in your eyes if you’re out in a blizzard.

Face

Nearly all of its settings can be controlled from the Mod Configuration Menu. Winter is Coming: Cloaks and Cloaks of SkyrimAdd fur and cloth cloaks to the game. These are used by Wet and Cold as cold weather gear. Guards and Soldiers will wear hold, or faction, specific cloaks, while most NPCs wear fur ones. Most Realistic Water TwoIs a water mod that enhances Skyrim’s lakes, rivers, and oceans with completely new textures. It also includes new water audio and improves the look of waterfalls.

Water Color for ENB and Realistic Water TwoEnhances the sun-scattering affect that’s visible when sunlight hits the water. With this mod, and the right ENB settings, you’ll see colors reflecting beneath the surface of the water and making it appear more realistic. While these last two mods may seem unrelated to weather, or the sky, it’s important to remember that (in real life at least) water reflects the sky. The better the sky looks, the better the water looks. So it would be kind of pointless to do all this work on weather systems and not put some effort into making the water look better too.

Installation and Set-UpClimates of Tamriel is going to serve as the backbone for the rest of the mods we install. Everything else in this mod pack needs to overwrite this mod. Don’t forget to download the patches for Dragonborn and Dawnguard if you have them.It has it’s own installer so once you download it, you’ll be presented with a series of options. Be sure to leave everything set to default.

Even if you want darker nights. We’ll get to that in a second.Install the Climates of Tamriel Weather Patch. When it’s installer runs, you’ll want to make sure that you’re installing the Regular Edition NOT the Fog Edition. Also, make sure to tick the box for Dragonborn if you’ve got it. From here you can set your night level however you want it. In my videos I left it at default, but if you want a “Torches are recommended” experience then go for Night Level 4.I’m using Realvision ENB and I find that I don’t have to touch the brightness settings for the snow.

That option will entirely depend on the rest of your settings.Don’t forget to tick the box for the Supreme Storms patch. Now you can go ahead and install Supreme Storms. Make sure you download the version for Climates of Tamriel.Download Supreme and Volumetric fog, being sure to grab the Climates of Tamriel version.

Both of these mods need to overwrite the Climates of Tamriel Weather Patch.Rainbows, Shooting Stars, and a Splash of Rain can be installed as is. They’re pretty straightforward and lightweight.Wet and Cold is also pretty straightforward and has its own installer. Most of it should be pretty self-explanatory. If you’re using a mod that improves the sizes of children’s heads (like RS children), then you need to be sure to select the correct patch when installing this mod. Otherwise the bigger heads will clip through their hoods.I like to install Cloaks of Skyrim and then Winter is Coming: Cloaks. This is because WiCC has a patch to ensure it’s compatible with CoS. It doesn’t really make a difference which one is installed first, but it helps me remember to tick that little box in the installer for WiCC.Realistic Water Two also has an installer.

If you have Dragonborn and Dawnguard then tick the box that says Legendary and nothing else. If you have Falskaar (a quest mod that adds a new world space), then you’ll want to tick Falskaar in the check boxes.Water Color for ENB and Realistic Water Two is pretty easy to install, just download and install. However, to get it to look like it does in my videos you’re going to need to edit a few things in the enbseries.ini file. These changes are highly dependent on your own personal preference and the ENB that you’re using. It should go without saying that if you’re not using an ENB, or you’re using it with graphics turned off like in the Low-End PC mod pack, then this mod won’t work.So you’ll want to navigate to where Skyrim is installed on your computer; this will also be the place where you installed your ENB. By default that’s going to be C drive Program files Steam Steamapps Common Skyrim.Find the enbseries.ini and open it. Under the heading titled “water” (press ctrl+f to bring up the search box) find this entry:SunScatteringMultiplier = 1And change the number accordingly. For Realvision ENB I found that a value of 10 looks really good and that’s what you’ll see in my videos for this mod pack. For some ENBs you may find that it still doesn’t look quite right and may have to adjust the muddiness of the water a bit.

Under the same heading, find this entry:Muddiness = 1If you’re going to mess with muddiness the mod maker suggests a value between 0.7 or 0.2.Making this adjustments can be done in game by pressing shift + enter. This will bring up the ENB configuration menu and from there you can make alterations. This might be kind of confusing if you’re a beginner.

Just be careful and you’ll be fine. Optional ModsAnd that’s pretty much all there is to the Skyrim weather mod pack, but if you’re looking to expand things a little here’s some more options for you.– adds weather gear to Solstheim. So if you have Dragonborn this is a must have. It’s also adds facemasks so that NPCs can protect themselves during duststorms. You can also choose weather or not dust/ash storms blind your character the same way that Blizzards can.– adds different seasonal events to Skyrim.

Different holidays get different seasonal decorations added to the game world and, depending on the event, certain vendors might off discounts. This mod also adds the ability to randomize your starting date and time when beginning a new game.– this mod edits the way snow appears on and under architecture in game. Snow on roof tops is is situated more realistically, while snow under overhangs has also been edited for realism.

Snow has been removed from walkways and high traffic areas.– Obviously not a weather mod, but it’s awesome to spy a couple of swans paddling in a pond through the early morning fog.– adds a very subtle glow-type effect to the moons to make them look more like actual light giving entities instead of just big circles in the sky.
